This year’s I/ITSEC presented Hadean with a unique opportunity to showcase the culmination of our platform’s development and demonstrate how AI-powered spatial computing can create a new way for leaders across government and the military to understand and solve problems in a complex operating environment. As we’re about to wrap 2023, the event also provided a platform to expand our network in the United States, contribute to thought leadership on the benefits of AI and cloud-native technology, and reflect our company’s growth.
Bridging Realms for Next-Gen Capabilities
Hadean’s daily showcases at I/ITSEC presented the training and simulation community with a glimpse into the transformative potential of the Hadean Platform. The demonstrations, led by our Global CTO, Royal O’Brien, and Senior Solutions Architect, Peter Taylor, featured a range of capabilities, including a cutting-edge pattern of life simulation and Large Language Model (LLM) integrations. Throughout the week, the Hadean Platform ran a common operating picture of a country-level simulation, with 1 million AI-powered civilians and road traffic used to create a reality-like environment and demonstrate. It demonstrated the platform’s ability to reflect military and civilian activities and track a population’s reaction to unfolding events, including sentiment manifested in the form of a dynamic social media hub, and provide credible, data-driven insight for decision-makers.
Demonstrating the Hadean open-platform philosophy, we integrated three SME systems, including VBS4 by Bohemia Interactive Simulations, Ascot7 by Plexsys, and VR Forces by ST Engineering, to showcase how different domain-specific systems can be orchestrated to operate inside a complex synthetic environment and interact with it. The resulting ecosystem created a large-scale simulation that accurately reflected the complexity of a real-world situation as it unfolded, as a baseline for training, exercise, wargaming, and situational awareness missions. Leveraging our partnership with Snowflake, we demonstrated the value of data exploitation, analytics, and decision-making and also unveiled new capabilities that can augment and control the entire environment. Through native natural language voice and text interaction, controlled by a Generative AI model, users could enable behaviour changes on the fly and draw courses of action in real time. Training Tomorrow’s Warriors: Onsite Fireside Chats and Showcases
Hadean’s VP of Innovation, Chris Arthurs, took the stage at the Innovation Showcase to delve into Hadean’s advancements in AI and spatial computing. His presentation underscored the critical role of high-quality data in shaping the future of defence technology and highlighted the immense opportunities within the sector to not only store and contextualise data but also exploit it for robust decision support. The emphasis on data quality resonated as a key theme, signalling Hadean’s commitment to providing end-users with the tools they need to navigate an increasingly data-driven landscape.
We were also pleased to welcome Cervus Managing Director, Alan Roan, to our stand, where he caught up with Head of Defence BD, Nick Brown, to discuss Hadean’s collaboration with Cervus and our latest success with the British Army and across our global activities. The conversation looked at the value our joint offering, Forge, is delivering to the end-user and the promising future it holds as we continue to enhance its ability to aggregate and analyse data and generate decision advantage. On a similar note, Mimi Keshani, Hadean’s COO & Co-Founder, was also invited to a fireside chat at the 4C Strategies booth, off the back of our MoU announcement. She joined Mike Edqvist, Senior VP – America, to talk about the importance of SME collaboration and how novel technologies can augment training and simulations to enable collective training at scale.
Daily Announcements: MOUs, Strategic Partnerships, and Recognitions
Each day of I/ITSEC 2023 brought new announcements from Hadean, further solidifying our position as an industry leader. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with 4C Strategies marked a significant step towards collaborative capability integration, emphasising our commitment to support the end-user ambition for immersive, expansive, and interoperable multi-domain collective training. Showcasing Hadean’s dedication to fostering innovation through collaboration, strategic partnerships were also announced with Faculty AI, to create next-generation AI capabilities for defence, and DXC Technologies, to deliver strategic technology solutions for military training, planning, and data exploitation.
Another exciting highlight was the recognition of our resident data scientist, Dan Gorringe, who won the bronze medal at the Defence AI Centre and Dstl’s LLM hackathon during Google Cloud Next. Dan worked with experts from the Royal Air Force (RAF) to develop Bard of War, a system designed to use AI to assess British military doctrine alignment to strategic planning across all domains and their respective services. This builds on Hadean’s success in solving some of the most complex technological challenges in defence – acknowledged with an award, solidifying its reputation as a trailblazer in the integration of cutting-edge technologies.
Eyes on 2024
Hadean’s presence at I/ITSEC 2023 was nothing short of monumental. The daily showcases, insightful presentations, and strategic announcements underscored the company’s commitment to shaping the future of defence technology. As Hadean continues to push the boundaries of innovation, the impact of our contributions to next-generation military training, decision-making, and strategy is set to redefine how service personnel learn and prepare to face the challenges of their operating environment. With the learnings and successes of I/ITSEC now behind us, however, we’re zeroed in on our plans for 2024, which will aim to raise the bar further and match our company’s ambitions as we continue to grow and scale internationally.
