2021: Year in Review

2021 in review

Happy New Year to our wonderful followers! 2021 has been a landmark year for Hadean and we thank you for your continued support. We were delighted to reconnect as a company in person, with people returning to the office and attending QBRs throughout the year. If you want to join us in 2022, we’re currently hiring for a number of different roles, just go to hadean.com/careers for more info.

Let’s look back at some of the highlights.

The Hadean Platform SDK

For a number of years, we’ve been determined to share the benefits of our technologies foundation and enable developers everywhere to write and scale distributed applications more easily. This year we were thrilled to give people access for the first time. In September we released the free version of the Hadean Platform SDK – write once and deploy anywhere, read more about it here.

Key Deals

2021 saw our largest deal to date and the beginning of a historic partnership with CAE, where together we will be bringing next generation simulation solutions to market. We’re also excited to be providing a solution for the Ministry of Defence, working alongside Cervus to deliver a decision support system. Read more about our work with Cervus and the MoD here. In 2021 we also saw a renewal of our contract with Minecraft, the most successful video game in the world. Mojang will continue to use our tech to explore new possibilities in Minecraft using the scale available with Hadean. Other success includes ongoing streams with Microsoft as well as further contribution to the metaverse working with Pixelmax.

Announcements

We were delighted to receive an Epic MegaGrant for our continued working in integrating Unreal Engine. Additionally we joined as founding members of the O3DE project. Based on the AWS Lumberyard game engine, the project is a collaborative effort with the Linux Foundation, where we’re excited to open new opportunities for game developers.

Events

Last year we enjoyed the plethora of event styles present in our post-pandemic world, attending virtual, in person and hybrid events. In September we were proud to be diamond sponsors of Rust Conference 2021, coinciding with the release of the Hadean Platform SDK.

In May, we attended our first in person event since before Covid, at DSET in Bristol and it was lovely to connect face to face again, if a bit surreal! Another key event last year was I/ITSEC 2021, the world’s largest simulation and modelling conference. It was a pleasure to attend this historic conference that has a reputation for being pivotal to innovation and the shaping of future technologies used in defence.

Growth

2021 saw us extend our global reach, with new offices opening in both the U.S and the DACH region. We made a number of key senior hires – Andy Schwaderer as Managing Director for the U.S, Michael Feinberg as Chief Technology Officer and Shany Elkarat as Chief Product Officer. It has also been a busy time for recruiting, with Hadean doubling the number of employees over 2021! And we’re not slowing down…

Watch the video below for a quick roundup.

Remember to stay tuned followers, as we’ve got even more planned for 2022 and we can’t wait for the next part of the journey.
