Last week we attended I/ITSEC 2021, the world’s largest modelling, simulation and training event. Shorthand for the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference, the event is a coming together of defence organisations, domain experts, industry behemoths and smaller disruptors. This long running conference has a reputation for being pivotal to innovation and the shaping of future technologies used in defence. This year was no different, with cloud, VR/AR and AI all taking centre stage in a wide theme of digital transformation.
As first timers to the event, we gave a number of people an introduction to our technology and its potential. With simulations being a key pillar of the event’s theme, it was exciting to show attendees how our platform addresses a key pain point around them. For people creating synthetic environments, increasing the size and complexity of them often results in massive performance losses. It was a pleasure to show what’s possible with our dynamic scaling, where a far greater complexity in simulations can be achieved. With scalable computing and optimised live data, data from disparate sources can be aggregated and brought under one observation point, enabling true representation of the complicated realities of modern battlespaces.
In addition to this, we were enthused to see the significance of emerging AI and ML in the defence space, with this tech a hot topic during the week. Our latest project for the MoD, working with Cervus, looks to leverage our compute power and their analytics engine to provide an advanced decision support system. Part of the DASA programme, this venture looks to automate and fasten legacy and incumbent decision making systems by using AI and supercomputing.
As a whole, the event showed the vast digital transformation occurring within defence. Enterprise technology, gaming, as well as the traditional defence companies are aligning more due to the opportunities that web 3.0 and spatial computing offer. These technologies are enabling more immersive environments, data-driven strategic thinking and the merging of siloed training and analysis systems. Moving forward, we’re excited to see the role our platform plays in providing the scalable compute power needed for these data hungry applications.
We look forward to next year, but in the meantime we’re thrilled to continue a number of exciting conversations that began at I/ITSEC 2021. If you stopped by our booth, don’t hesitate to get in touch at info@hadean.com, or find out more about our defence solutions at hadean.com/welcome.
