What is your role at Hadean? What does an average week look like for you?

I’m the People Ops Coordinator at Hadean, so my role is to support the Ops team across our people initiatives, onboarding, reporting & social aspects of the company. We usually have a lot of ongoing projects. In the last few months, we’ve been working on everything from setting up our new offices & remote working model, to our company-wide strategy meeting last week where we were able to meet up; for the first time, for a lot of us. Given the amount we’ve been expanding as a team, onboarding new joiners is always a big focus.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

There’s so much to learn and a lot of great people to learn from. We’ve been growing rapidly so there’s been a lot of change even in the time that I’ve been here so there’s always something new to dive into. One of the things I’ve appreciated the most about my role is that I’ve been encouraged to find what I’m passionate about and develop from there.

What led you to the role of People Ops Coordinator at Hadean?

My last role was in San Francisco where I worked in recruitment, so I had a lot of exposure to fast-growth tech companies which I found super interesting. Before that I was studying for my Masters in Organizational Psychology, so I was always interested in learning more about how companies successfully grow and develop through start-up stages.

What top three skills or traits do you think someone needs to pursue a role as a People Ops Coordinator?

Organisation has definitely been key in this role as there are often a lot of moving parts to keep track of. You have a lot of stakeholders as you are working to some extent with the whole business, as well as external partners so having communication skills is helpful, as well as an interest in people.

What are some of the most exciting challenges you face day-to-day and how do you overcome them?

It can be difficult to keep up at times as it is such a fast paced environment, but as mentioned diving in at the deep end makes you learn very quickly.

How would you describe Hadean’s culture?

Everyone trusts each other to get their job done and own their decisions, but equally there are a lot of great people willing to give their time to help you learn. One of the reasons that I was drawn to Hadean before joining was that everyone I’d met through interviews was passionate about both the company and creating a great work environment. Now I’ve had the opportunity to meet people both in person and remotely

What would you say is the most fulfilling part of your role at Hadean?

We’re at a really cool stage of company growth where there’s so much opportunity to create impact and have a say in a lot of the initiatives being carried out. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, pride and inclusivity is something that’s important to me personally and it’s been great to see this reflected across the team and company-wide. There’s a lot we have in the pipeline aimed at making sure we’re following through on our values, for example in the DE&I training program we’re rolling out, and access to a learning and development tool that will allow us each to pursue growth areas that are important to us.
